AI – Media Lab

Old Blog Review (First Entry)

I went around and got look at older students final project and one in particular caught my mind. It’s called Avva and was made by Ryan Bechara. I believe that the point of his project was to show that with IA, you can create a public face without the celebrity being even alive. I really liked his blog, because the digital art was so nice and well done and because I thought his idea was original and well-developped. Perhaps it could have been more interactive, but still it’s a good beginning for something that could involve is something even more crazier. I believe that if he would have gone all the way to the interaction and all, it would have blown my mind. IA can be really scary something and this project could have gone there.

Infographic

For the infographic, I decided to play around with Canvas and do one about language, more particularly French. I have a French roommate from France, and I am, obviously, from Quebec and even though we basically speak the same language, many times we don’t exactly understand each other or agree on certain terms. That’s why this infographic shows many different words that we had to explain to each other because they are either used in a totally different way in both dialect or because they simply don’t exist in the other one vocabulary. It shows that even though we share the same base when it comes to French, based on history and geography, two persons can still have difficulty to understand each other. But at the end of the day, we still share the pride of speaking such a unique language and call ourselves somewhat bilingual.

Idea for Possible AI Subject

For the final project, I think it would be interesting to like at AI from a criminal point or view. Perhaps from a criminal point of view, how people are able to create fake, non-human identity on the internet in order to fraud people. Or from a the police point of view were technology is either able to predict a crime being committed or pretend the crime to happen or have a big impact.

Self-Reflection

This semester, I think I did a good work. Jasmine and I split the work based on what we are me comfortable with. I did most of the visual part while Jasmine did the texts. So we did research together, Jasmine finished them at home and then sent them to me. I did both the infographic and the NLP video. Jasmine did the voices recording and wrote the informations and narration. We made a good team, it’s always really fun to work with her, we get along very well. The ambiance of the class was very comfortable so it was always very fun to be in. Thank you!
