The Impact of IA on Our Vocational Orientations

As our realities become more and more technologically immersed, we find ourselves wondering: ”What can’t a computer do?” We live in a time where most of the hard manual work required by society to be prosperous is not done by humans anymore. Machines have taken over our factories, security as well as data administration systems and even mundane tasks like parking our cars. Some might feel that the automatization of such activities is nothing but positive for individuals as it makes life easier and more enjoyable. However, as we move further and further into an age of innovation, we are starting to see many professions being taken over by IA. Individuals are forced to think ahead when they choose a career path, to make sure that it is safe from this reality, and those that are unfortunate enough to have already committed themselves to a job that is disappearing in favour of automated technology will have to go through the consequences of our inevitable modernization.

Research interests

I am very interested in researching AI in film, particularly how production companies have been using technology and data recollection to predict what themes, techniques, types of actors or even genres will attract the biggest audiences and be well received on the market.

Self-Evaluation

I worked with Laura for the most part of the semester on the predictive analytics research project. We both contributed equally to the website content as well as the final video we produced for it. While she shot the images of the video, I edited the whole thing together. I think that the essential part of our research is good, as anyone without a background on the subject could easily understand it with just a glance. Our infographics are simple and not too complicated to digest. However, I think that for some aspects of the project, we could have expanded a little bit more on the information provided. Switching to online learning was slightly odd, but I quickly got used to it.
